    Don’t Get Your Hopes Up

So the positives:- Smells wonderful- Makes a nice thick lather- Leaves you clean, as a good soap doesThe negatives:- Not a viable treatment for skin disorders. Don’t believe the claims. If this was a valid treatment, actual dermatologists would use it. This won’t really do much for any acne, dandruff. Save your money if that’s what you’re looking for.- The Price. Holy Moley.- The smell does not linger or last, so it’s really just for you while you’re washing up. Anyone else would have to get really close to notice, and you yourself won’t notice it anymore within a few minutes of leaving the shower.- Needs to be protected from the elements and kept away from moisture. I cut the bar in quarters and used one piece at a time. If you don’t keep it in a watertight dish away from humidity (a sealed soap dish), it’ll turn to goop and be very hard to use.- It takes about 1/4 the time to go through a bar as normal soap. Even keeping it sealed and out of water, this stuff just foams away to nothing in no time at all.

    Itch Free Since Use

I saw the Youtube Ads for Dr. Squatch soap and when I saw they had one that looked sort of like an exfoliant (that smelled of pine), I became curious.I have sensitive skin- I’m cautious about what soap, soap powder, and lotion I use. I’ve had black Pine Tar Bar for about 3 days now and have used it for 2 nights. The black bar lathers decently, the pine scent isn’t overpowering and is unnoticeable after you get out of the bath/shower and it’s gentle enough that I can use the soap (lathered) on my face. My skin has not started to itch since starting this new soap, but I will do need to do further “testing” before I can make a final conclusion.I’m currently quite satisfied with my purchase and will update my “review” once I’ve used my bar up completely. If Dr. Squatch wants to get into the exfoliating body wash game, I’d like to try some of that too.P.S. : The suds will be black. Prepare for that.UPDATE:My soap’s gone. The bar lasted 8 days (Friday to Friday). I still like how it lathers (and am still in awe of how it lathers white from a black bar) and leaves my skin feeling hydrated without overly fragrant and I used it on my face without breaking out.My review update won’t change much but I don’t know how I feel about buying a bar of soap once a week for about $10 (shipping included) when my skin has been subsisting on Zote soap (the manliest pink soap) for a fraction of that price.I believe this Pine Tar soap uses quality ingredients and that is what justifies the price.Just know what you’re getting into because I’ve never heard of someone allocating their money for a soap budget.

    Fastest Disappearing Soap

Bought the Black Pine Tar bar after being bombarded by adds on youtube. Got the bar uber excited dying to smell like a “Man”. First time I used the bar, I thought I had to wait for the bar to blossom or something for the scent to be released. Smell was so faint that I had to literally touch my nose to the bar and then guess what it smelt like. The whole bar lasted maybe 15 days – bar literally evaporated into thin air – I used it to lather up on the upper body only and still just 15 day? I personally feel that WholeFoods and local Farmer’s market bars are a lot more organic and a whole lot better in value.Garbage product, a ton of fake reviews and heavy marketing – These bars are total crap. Stay away.and yes, Amazon did refund my money.I

Good soap, smells good, but not worth almost $10/bar

I bought this after reading so many great reviews on this soap. I’ll admit I was slightly skeptical that some reviews mentioned it lasted longer. I take one shower a day and it is gone in about two weeks. I do like the smell but can’t say I’m blown away as some reviews also mention. Lastly, on a positive note, I do like the exfoliating grains of sand in the soap that help to exfoliate…one of my favorite features.Overall, I should have gone with my gut, but I was willing to give it a try. Maybe I’ll try another scent however at almost $10 per bar it’s hard to justify for anyone on a modest budget.

    Bad Customer Service

I purchased the Pine Tar soap and was not satisfied. I had never purchased anything like this before so went in kind of blind and relied on the overall customer reviews. The soap smells like a car freshener to me. I sent in an email explaining this and even stated I would be willing to try something else because I usually try to give new companies a couple chances to earn my business. The response I got back was a generic one that was very obviously computer generated. Haven’t heard a word back from the company since. Very disappointed in how the issue has been handled.

    Save your money

This is literally one of the worst products I have purchased on Amazon.First, it does NOT last. My wife and I take one shower per day each. We’re less than one week into this $10.00 bar of soap, and it is almost gone. Maybe it will last one more day, but more likely one more shower. You can buy an $.89 bar of Dial at the grocery store that does what this does, and lasts twice as long.Second, it does not smell like pine. While it has a pine-y sent, it’s something else. It does not smell good or refreshing.I saw this on a live feed ad (Instagram?) and it had good reviews. I like soaps that smell good, so I thought, “What the heck,” and gave it a try. Seriously? Ten bucks for a bar of soap? This is such a bad product, I will not even consider anything else from Dr. Squatch.Oh yeah, one more thing. Its residue in the shower is black. Black residue on your nice tile shower. Trust me, your wife will LOVE it….Save your money.

Get your first aide kit ready!

It’s been almost two weeks now and my wounds have finally healed. Two weeks also marks my first shower using this product where I learned the pumice inside was no joke. The scent of natural pine paired with the black color was leaving me with a very masculine vibe. Imitating the IG ad I watched days prior, I began scrubbing my beard, face and head. So far so good… I moved to the arms and the chunks of what I have concluded as “wood” began to get a little aggressive. The closest comparison I could think of is my military days of using Lava soap or GoJo. Giving the soap a full send, meaning that I was going to give it head to toe try, I continued to my legs. Lightening up on the pressure to the point where the soap was barely in my grasp, I toughed through the pain and finished up. It wasn’t until I began toweling off and glancing in the mirror that I noticed the red scratched all over my back, shoulders, face, and thighs. My next thought was someone could get accused of cheating using this soap, dangerous. Finishing my thought, I noticed blood on my towel. Investigating further, the source was a inch long gash along my outer shin/calf. It kind of resembled a deep briar scratch or if a large doggo had pawed down the side of my leg. Hesitant with my next shower, I had to use my fingernail to remove some of the more aggressive chunks of wood from the bar before use. Occasionally, I still feel a new one surface and have to decide if it’s going to be another skin ripper. Overall, I’m indifferent with this soap. The scent is great, color is awesome, texture… well I’ve said enough about that, and the lifespan is relatively short. I most likely won’t be purchasing another bar due the pumice. Though it feels good on your shoulders and back, the risk of being cut is too great if you’re not careful. I’m curious if the rest of their products are as aggressive? I’m a tough dude, but I shouldn’t have to prove it in the shower… unless it’s prison.

    Great smell and feel

Bought this for my boyfriend and immediately noticed the scent through the box. It smells so good! It leave his skin nice and soft too. Produces a nice lather and seems it will last

Great quality – doesn’t last long and block is poor design

So the ingredients are top notch – smells great, cleans great, etc. However, it doesn’t last long at all (for the price) and the “block” design is part of the problem – since there’s so much more surface due to the block design, it dissolves a lot faster. There’s a reason soap is more cylindrical and curved. Squatch is trying to be “different” with the block, but it’s really just inefficient. If they can remold and compress the product, I think it’ll be fantastic.

    Disappointed

I bought just to try out. It’s good but not great, won’t be buying again.Pros. Smells good, lathers good.Cons. Biggest disappointment was the pine tar, I’ve had real pine tar soap before and there is little to no pine tar in this. Scent was nice but weak, could have been a bit stronger. A little on the pricey side for artisan soap.I’ll admit this soap is way better than many commercial brand of soap (most artisan soaps are) and is only reason I’m giving 3 stars, but this soap just isn’t worth it, I’ve had better for less.

Nothing to write home about. And seriously? Woodchips?

Really guys? Do I want to wake up in the morning and have my first task be to negotiate the woodchips in my soap? I don’t care how hipster and cool you are nobody wants this. Also it smells fine but it’s nothing to write home about.

    Great soap BUT……………..

It simply does not last. Even aiming the shower head at it makes a black wash of water down the wall it errodes away so fast. Its a great smelling, cleansing soap but isnt worth what it will cost you over time buy having to buy 2-3 bars a month. All the reviews here on it not lasting are 100% spot on. They need to lower the price, make the bar much larger for the price, or simply find a way to make it last longer. If it wasnt for that I would give it 5 stars all day.

    Over priced!

It’s okay. The bar when delivered smelled strong. However I found after washing myself with the bar the smell wasn’t nearly as noticeable. It’s okay at exfoliating, some parts of the bar have lots of grit some parts have none. Soap lathers well. The bar is supposed to last at least 2 weeks depending how often you wash. I see that being fairly accurate. I ordered this soap off of amazon because after using Dr Squatchs website I found my order to be ridiculously over priced due to shipping. However I find amazons prices to be just as over priced. 1 bar costs $7 on the Dr Squatch website and on here costs $13.45 plus $5.19 in shipping. For a total of $18.64 for 1 Bar of soap…. not worth the money at all! These prices need to adjusted!

Too Abrasive & Doesn’t Last Long

This has bits of wood and grit in it that scratch the skin quite a bit and doesn’t make for a pleasant shower. The scent is pretty good but it doesn’t last after you get out of the shower. Also, the bar deteriorated after one week of showering once a day and it was kept in a dry spot. Lastly it made a big black mess on the surface where it was kept. Obviously not hard to clean up being that it’s soap and all, but still if you care about keeping things presentable that might be a turn off for you.All in all it’s too expensive for what you get. I wouldn’t buy this soap again.

Great Soap IF You Use It Properly!

This really is excellent soap. I was a soapscriber for a while but have canceled my subscription. Not because I didn’t love the products – they were fantastic! But I’m now making my own soap, inspired by Dr. Squatch. I ordered this Pine Tar soap from Amazon so I could test it (from Amazon instead of direct from Squatch) and write a verified review. There are some negative reviews for this and I’ll address those points here.First, this is COLD PROCESS soap! You 100% cannot treat this like the soap you buy at the store, it’s totally different. This soap is going to be much softer and you need to keep it out of the water as much as possible. If you leave this somewhere where water is constantly hitting it, it’s going to melt away and you are going to be a sad panda. This is not unique to Dr. Squatch soap, it’s something that most any cold process soap will do. Keep the soap high, dry and happy folks. The scent of the pine tar soap from Amazon was really strong when I opened the package. It does have a Pine Sol smell to it. Out of the Amazon packaging this dissipates a lot. The scent of the soap does not really stay on my skin like the other soaps Squatch produces. This is probably because there is little to no essential oil or fragrance oil in the soap. The list of ingredients is different on the website and my packaging. On the soap I received there were no essential or fragrance oils listed, that’s not the case on the website. The other soaps I have used from Squatch definitely leave a scent on me for the next 3-4 hours, this was not the case with this bar of Pine Tar soap. This is probably because there are no essential/fragrance oils and the amount of pine tar in the soap is really minimal. You may or may not like the smell, just know that out of the Amazon box it’s going to be much stronger than normal. The Pine Tar soap has sand and oatmeal in it for exfoliation. I read a review here that said there are wood chips. That’s insane. Oatmeal and sand. I didn’t find those harsh at all. I don’t have any skin conditions but the soap has my skin smooth and soft. With all Squatch soap, I use fishing line to cut each bar into 4 pieces before I use it. I find that the scent fades after about a week of use. This has been the case with all of the soaps I have used from Squatch. I suspect it’s just water absorbing into the soap and bringing the oils closer to the surface. As this repeats, more and more oils are drawn to the surface of the soap and when you get below a certain point there are no more. Cutting the bars up prevents me from using unscented soap for weeks on end as 1/4 of a bar of soap will last me almost 2 weeks. When I shower, I use a brush and lather that up with my soap chunk (a brush like this one: MAGGIFT Removable Natural Boar Bristle Long Handle Body Brush For Dry Skin Brushing, Remove Dead Skin And Toxins, Scrub And Exfoliation Shower Brush Massage Scrubber. Dry Skin Body Brush, 16 inch).I keep the soap out of the stream of water at all times. After I’ve lathered up the brush several times (and all of me) I take the soap chunk and lather up again using the soap on my skin instead of the brush. When I’m finished showering I put the soap on a rubber coated wire shower caddy that sits behind my shower heads. It is completely and totally out of any streams of water. With this particular chunk of soap I was able to get 13 showers (out of 1/4 of the bar). So the entire bar would make it to 50 showers for me. I create a lot of later and basically lather myself twice each time I shower. I don’t use the soap lightly at all!A few more points. This soap has a very small amount of pine tar in it. There are soap recipes that have up to 20% pine tar in the soap. The amount in this soap is nowhere near that, it’s for sure less than 5% of the soap based on the list of ingredients and probably 1-2%. If you are trying to clear up a skin condition you might shop elsewhere or look into making your own. The ingredients on my box do not match the website. Either something is inaccurate or the formula has changed. I suspect that if the formula has changed to what is listed on the website now, the scent of the soap would last outside the shower. Keep in mind that soap is a wash off product and it’s not going to get you smelling the same as if you douse yourself in Axe spray or something. If you want to smell like the forest all day, maybe grab some cedar essential oil.The pictures I attached to this review…the first one is out of the box. The second one is after 7 showers and the final one is after 11 showers. I got 13 showers out the the chunk. By the end their was scent left in the chunk but it was not as strong as it was at first. I’ll repeat, I kept the chunk of soap out of the stream of water AT ALL TIMES. Do not buy this or any cold process soap if you’re going to just keep it where water is always hitting it. You’d be better off just taking your money ($10 in this case) and setting it on fire. Keep the soap out of the water. To summarize, this is excellent soap! Keep it out of the steam of water and it’s going to last you a while. You may or may not like the smell. If you’re unsure, smell some diluted Pine Sol…that’s pretty close. There isn’t much actual pine tar in the soap, so if you’re looking to alleviate a skin condition you might want to look into another brand that has more pine tar in it. I’ve been very happy with all of Dr. Squatch’s soaps. Before I tried them showering was kind of whatever – just something I did. But since I’ve used Squatch soaps I actually look forward to showering, it’s very enjoyable. I love the difference it’s made with how my skin feels and my wife really likes the scents. IF you treat the soap right, it will last. To me, it’s a no brainer – definitely worth a little extra cost for a high quality soap!

    One shower, and I’m hooked

I was skeptical of this product, seemed expensive, but I figured I would give it a try.I took 1 shower, used this soap, and I will be buying more of these. Great soap, but, it’ll make you sad (and BROKE) 🙁

I…gotta…tellya…I’m really disappointed. I was excited to try this soap as it had so many great reviews. I read a lot of them and they all said the stuff was great. Smelled good, worked good, and the manufacturer has great service. HOWEVER, the reviews about it not lasting are absolutely true. I paid $10 for a bar of this stuff off here and when it came in, I verified that it smells great, does a great job cleaning, and leaves your skin feeling clean and smooth. But, to my sadness (I really love this soap), this bar of soap does not last long at all. Certainly not “$10 for a single bar” long. The size of the bar is about the thickness of two iPhones stacked on top of each other and about as big as half an iPhone 6 plus. I’ve used it for about a week and a half and take one shower a day. The size of the soap this morning was about the size of a quarter (after wadding up the remnants into a ball so that I could get every cent’s worth of use out of it). This stuff is really great in all ways except how long it lasts. I wish the bar was about twice as big and was a little more dense, but, for $10 or even $7ish off their website, it’s just flat not worth it. I won’t buy it again and the reviews about it not lasting are 100% true. I thought those people were just clean freaks and took hour long showers three times a day. I am not one of those people and it really really didn’t last more than a week and a half. I don’t often write reviews on here, but, this one was such a bummer, I felt that I needed to add to the list of review. So, if you have money to burn and don’t care that that an entire bar of soap only lasts a week and a half, this stuff is friggen awesome. But, if you don’t want to spend $20-30 a month on bars of soap, stay away. Picture below is after 10 days of use.

Doesn’t Live up To the hype or the cost

I wanted to like it. I kept seeing the ads online and decided I’d throw it in with an amazon order and give it a try. This is not for guys that actually get dirty and need to actually clean themselves of dirt in the shower. I am a tradesman and after a long shift I need a long hot shower to be clean. This soap does a great job at cleaning your skin, but after less than a week of use the bar is completely gone. I can’t afford a $40/month soap budget. I was not crazy about the pine tar fragerance nor was my old lady, but it did clean well. Due to the issues of it lasting though I will not be purchasing another Dr. Squatch soap product. Very disappointed.

    $10 FOR THIS IS THEFT

    They have a decent marketing campaign, but a terrible product. I liked the scent left behind, but I didn’t feel clean afterwards, I felt greasy. Six hours later I took another shower with my Castille organic, sustainable Shea butter liquid soap and all was right again. I consider it theft to charge nearly $10 for something I threw in the trash after the first use. There’s plenty of low cost ($1-$3) bars of pine tar soaps on Amazon, I URGE you to try those first;

    Smells like a janitors closet

I genuinely do not get why this is a best seller or why it’s Dr. Squatch’s most popular soap; and I really do not get why people say its scent is amazing. It smells like the powder janitors pour on vomit in public schools when a kid pukes all over the place, or like one of those scented pads they put in a urinals with holes in them that we all use as a target.I admire this company for what they do, but Jesus does this soap not smell how you’d want smell after a shower.
